The Line is a 170-kilometre urban development consisting of several interconnected communities, including pedestrian areas integrated with public parks and natural landscapes. According to the plan, advanced technologies will help create a living space free from pollution and traffic noise.
The idea for The Line concept was put forward by the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia personally. The architects of the American company Morphosis, headed by Pritzker Prize laureate (the architectural equivalent of the Nobel Prize) Thom Main, have developed the concept of a linear city. However, the proposed width (2 kilometers) seemed too large to the prince. Inspired by the vision, he proposed reducing the width of the “Line” by 10 times, to 200 meters, while increasing the height to 500 meters.
The Line will be supported by physical and digital infrastructure, fully integrated underground, providing essential utilities and transport services.
