Neom will be located on the territory of three countries – Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt. Its area will be 25 thousand square kilometers. Construction is planned to be completed by 2030.
The name of the gigaproject itself (this is the term used in relation to NEOM) comes from the Greek prefix “neo-” (new), and the fourth letter “m” is taken from the Arabic word “mustaqbal” (“future”). That is, together everything should mean a “new future.”
Nine areas will be priority areas for the Neom economy, including digital technologies, new energy, biotechnology and media.
It is known that NEOM should consist of at least ten “regions”, of which the concepts of six have been presented so far. The largest, undoubtedly, will be the horizontal skyscraper “Line”. This is the city of the future, whose population in the foreseeable future should be one million people, and in the future reach 9 million.
In addition to “Line”, the creation of four more “regions” was announced: “Oxagon” should become an industrial city of a new type, “Troyena” — a ski resort, “Sindala” — a sea island resort, “Leia” — a desert oasis, “Epicon” — a seaside «mirage». It is also planned to build a new seaport and airport.
NEOM is an ambitious project that is conceived as a platform for innovation and development and strives to become a center of cutting-edge technologies and ideas, attracting attention from all over the world.
